The lesson of Copenhagen 2009 is that we must cooperate with a global society project.

"Let us build together a new world based on the project of a sustainable global society without exclusion or hunger where everyone locally benefits shelter, education, health care, basic human rights to speech, assembly and democratic institutions !"

The lesson of Copenhagen 2009 is that we must cooperate.

"Let us build together a new human world based on the project of a sustainable global society without exclusion or hunger where everyone locally benefits shelter, education, health care, basic human rights to speech, assembly and democratic institutions !"

The only choice is between global immediate cooperation or endless wars, large extermination of human and natural life and possible annihilation.

In spite and because of the inevitable obstacles to cooperation, whatever may seem to prevent us to cooperate must be...

Peace is the only way to lasting happiness and continued economic growth.

Poverty and Pollution are Costly Capital Losses

Our current wars, economic crisis, poverty and pollution are linked. Instead of being spent on human development investments, public funds have been spent on violent methods to solve problems. Instead of sound environmental practices, we allow life to be diminished.  War, poverty, pollution and destruction of natural resource are the same wrong to Life.

The crucial choice before us is the method we choose to solve our problems. It is between peace and war, violence and non-violence, intelligence and brute force, not between left and right, republican and democrats, capitalist and socialist,...

Strategy for Peace

What is the best way to reach those who benefit the most from the economy of peace?

Germany and Japan: both Japan and Germany have had pacifists constitutions imposed on them after WWII .

German and Japan are our best allies because, in our modern time, both have first experienced the economy of peace through the absence or sharp diminution of military spending after 1945.

Against their will, they have therefore been the first countries to live the benefits of the economy of peace.

They became the example of the “miracles” of market economy and reconstruction after the war. Their exports were rising dramatically as were their inner consumption.  Then, as the risk of war...

The Business of Peace

Peace is a personal issue.

-What do I want?

-The business of peace for all; I want that we learn to use non-violent ways to solve problems.

Peace is a personal issue.  Change comes from within.  A change in me changes the way I see the world and it changes what I do in the world.

I learn to find peace with silent worship as Friends do.  I also learn peace with the practice of telling my ego not to get in the way.  It isn't easy. I was brought up Machiavellian.  I was for the Empire through the sword. I had never heard the words conflict and resolution together before 1987.  I was for forcing a peace I liked. I...

The Subprime Crisis

Rich households in America have been leaving both middle and poorer income groups behind.

The subprime crisis is directly linked to the fact that rich households in America have been leaving both middle and poorer income groups behind.

Poverty grew in the USA and receded in Greece, France and Spain. ( http://www.oecd.org/document/36/0,3343,en_2649_33933_41460917_1_1_1_1,00.html )

Granted, unsound practices born from deregulation of the financial market aggravated the effect of increased poverty.

The subprime crisis, in other words, is the fact that there weren’t enough customers capable of buying and keeping their real estate purchase.

Rather than developing their population,...

Trust America

Banking is and always was about confidence in banks.

Trust is the main asset for a bank. Capacity to face losses and ability to find needed cash are banking basics and, fundamentals for trust in banks.  Once trust erodes, banks are squeezed out of cash they cannot easily replenish. They lend money while increasingly fewer lending institutions will want to lend it money at a rate where it can turn around and make money.

Therefore  ratios between assets and lending have to be close enough not to spread too thinly the capacity of bank to face losses.  1 to 40 in the USA , that ratio is about 1 to 12 in Europe.

Due to a lack of confidence in the...

Poverty Masked by Racism

The real American problem is the large proportion of poor people.

Today's US media make more and more noise around racism so as not to have to speak about US poverty. Racism is a divisive issue.

Speaking about racism helps divides the electorate, especially poor or in precarious situation.

The real American problem is the large proportion of poor people.

The real estate crisis happened primarily because there had not been enough customers able to purchase property and keep paying mortgages.

There weren't enough customers. Had poverty diminished in the USA since 2000 that there would still be a bullish real estate market today. Musical chairs was...

Musical chairs was played. The debt of those who could not pay were sold around.

In itself, the word "subprime" reveals that the nature of the problem,...

Happy Fourth

Happiness, the pursuit of happiness

Happiness requires peace, not war, not strife, not violence!.  Happiness needs addressing issues before they become too painful and too expensive.

Pacifism is often construed as a passive attitude; it is really a powerful transformative drive.  Pacifism is not passivism!  It is not "do nothing", it is "do a lot more"!

Many people who have been activists for a very long time agree that Pacifism has been a reactive force; it really is a pro-active one!

Similarly, it is easy to observe that pacifism is seen by many as a fringe radical movement; it really is mainstream!

Peace is what everyone...

Word & Deed

58 years ago today ended the second war for the world

The rule of violence was to have been cast away for good and pacifist constitutions were imposed on Germany and Japan.  However it is a documented fact that the victors hired many of those who served the goals of the defeated regime.  Scientists, intelligence, police and crowd-control officers were used for their skills. One can reasonably say that we did not really kill the beast but that we have absorbed it.  A redemption process was then seen useful.

There is value in elevating one's enemies rather than putting them down.  Transforming and redeeming powers are too often forgotten in our...

Merci and Peace!

So much hardship is inflicted!

Merci and Peace!

So much hardship is inflicted!

Mankind’s wars devours the resources necessary for its survival

Peace and Mercy for Life, the source of all value!

Aggressors! Aggressed! Sorry lot they are!

Poor us all!

How many more generations will be needed before wart is abolished and before poverty is finally understood as a disease to be prevented, rather than a fatality, a necessity or an unavoidable matter of fact?

So much nature is destroyed!

So much Life is wasted!

Curing pain with pain is no therapy!

Destroying capital is no management!

Merci!

Happiness Pursuit

We are all in bed together.

Knowing what we know, and aggravated as we can be over so many things, to be happy, it seems, that one has to decide to be positive and to stay the course.

It is not about blindness to horrible horrors, stupid stupidity, nasty nastiness of our unkind kind.

Happiness is about the egoist ego of our self when it is ruled by ego.

Happiness’ is a about perspective.

None of us are good. All of us are bad.  Sometimes we are the one sometimes we are the other.

I’ve always felt that, besides the argument about the existence of such places, if all the bad ones had to go to hell, we would all have to go.

Herem and Hesed

How long nature is going to let us corrupt it before it will eliminate us?

Question about the notion of herem, God destroying Israel’s enemies and hesed, trust in a merciful, forgiving and loving God, which I allude to in “longed since dawn Peace is reachable now”.

It seems to me that Judaism was for free market economy as soon his followers left Egypt with Moses. Because a conflict resolving God is included in the notion of hesed, I imagine that the notion of a merciful God probably evolved with the development of Jewish trade following the Diaspora after the first destruction of the Temple.

Globalization supposes global care for all. Only with care for flora,...

Herem and Hesed

Multitude vs. People

"the people" would better be expressed with the word multitude.

Multitude vs. People

When we say people we should keep in mind the notion of multitude which is more fitting the multitude of non-for profit organizations and reflects better the idea of plurality of opinion, genre, interests as they are spread among populations.

In an article called Multitude and principle of individuation, Paolo Vimo, explains very well that the notion of, the people , would better be expressed with the word multitude, as in multitude of people.

Globalization brings back to the forefront a good portion of the philosophical debate of the 17th century because...

Pacifism

Friends Peace Testimony since the 20th Century

Here are findings I recently made while investigating the birth of pacifism and more specifically Friends Peace Testimony since the 20th century.  Humanity has been longing for peace for a very long time.

My good friend William Woodard, an archeologist specialized in Minoan, Mycenaean and Bronze Age noted in conversation a few days ago that there are certain indications which lead to may have been peaceful civilizations in pre-historical age.  He pointed to Khera and Knossos because in spite of their vast constructions they did not have fortified cities.

In historical times, the quest for...
