Happiness, the pursuit of happiness

Happiness requires peace, not war, not strife, not violence!.  Happiness needs addressing issues before they become too painful and too expensive.

Pacifism is often construed as a passive attitude; it is really a powerful transformative drive.  Pacifism is not passivism!  It is not "do nothing", it is "do a lot more"!

Many people who have been activists for a very long time agree that Pacifism has been a reactive force; it really is a pro-active one!

Similarly, it is easy to observe that pacifism is seen by many as a fringe radical movement; it really is mainstream!
Peace is what everyone needs to go on with one's own business!

It is the Pacifism of Plenty! Pacifism is not abstinence and renunciation; Pacifism is opulence!

The cornucopia of plenty does not flow out of war, wrath and destruction!  War, violence, destruction impoverishes all.  Violence comes often out of frustration when issues are not addressed.  Violence comes, sooner than later, when we don't want to address issues! Peace and pacifism guaranties more for all.

The more there is for all the more wealth there is to share, the richer everyone becomes, including, if they know how to manage their business, those fortunate enough be rich already.

Pacifism deals with conflict but it does not use violent means to resolve them because violent means do not solve problems but add problems to problems.

Pacifism is usually presented as a moral and ethical necessity, as with the famous 18-century treaty on Eternal Peace by Immanuel Kant.

Pacifism is economic and pragmatic.  Morals and ethics get served in the process but they are not the guiding principle.  Matter is spiritual and that spirituality is material.  These are just two aspects of the same thing, Life.  It is Life, which animates us all as well as all creation.

Theologians will agree that Life is a reflection of God. There is a way to look at the Tetra gram, the sacred name of Judaism, HWHI (ithas to be read from left to right) as reflecting Life, HI (pronounce Haï, or jaï, with a Spanish jota).  In this way Life is a reflection of God, but not all of it.


There is a way to look at the Tretra gram as if it were a formula representing the spiral of Life. In Hebrew, yot, the smallest, the principle, hey, the only letter of the Hebrew alphabet in two parts, the spirit, wav, the continuation of the principle, the consequence, and hey, the spirit, again, because the spirit is double, it comes to one and it comes from one.  In this way of looking at the Tetra gram the consequence becomes itself a principle, which then has its own consequences.  Hey, the Spirit relates each principle both ways to its consequences, not unlike parents and children.  For harmonious Life to be, parents love their children and children love their parents.

The Dalai Lama says that religious beliefs are a medicine, which people take to help them, to cure themselves, to make themselves better.  We all chose our own "guardian deity". Helping people make the best of their time, of their life, is what is important here.  Helping each other reach better, higher ways of awareness and understanding is what counts.

Peace is an all-inclusive process; it does not leave any one or anything out. Peace, like the Spirit of the Tetra gram is also a two way process.  It comes from one and it comes to one. Peace is an inner process and it is an outer one.
Peace must come from within, it is an inner path, and at the same time it must be happening outside in the world.

 One must therefore make attempts to create peace within while one is attempting to make peace in the world.
 It has to come from one and it must come to one.

Economy is a look at Life trough the prism of money. Money, we should not forget in our pursuits, is a representation, a contractual agreement based on trust made to be an intermediary between things. 

It is therefore always acting as a catalyst, indispensable to go from one to the next but nowhere to be found inside the one and the next. Money is abstraction, some hard-to-put-a-finger-on concept, which goes in between things, just like the hey, in the Tetra gram.

But in the Tetra gram, hey, is the Spirit.  Hey, is also love (ahava).

Gandhi speaks of ahimsa, in Sanskrit, which is related to all-encompassing compassion, but which translators often give out as "Love".  Indian conceptions of chakras show that the pursuit of happiness brings one to higher levels of awareness in which  love is that which transforms the lower chakras, in to the higher ones.  1,2,3  become 5,6.7 through 4, the Heart chakra.  Interestingly the Heart chakra works in conjunction with another point, placed slightly under it, the wish-fulfilling-tree, the lotus of spiritual birth, in a dynamic duality.  The wish-fulfilling-tree is related to one's own "guardian deity".  Traditionally it is itself set on duality as it is set on a jeweled altar. (see Joseph Campbell's book  "Inner reaches of outer space" for more information on chakras and their correspondence in various cultures around the globe).

That compassion, that love is a key.  It is a tool, which enables things to happen.  It is a key, not the lock, not the door, nor what it opens.  Compassion and love open us to the world.  Without love we close ourselves and data from the world cannot penetrate our processing mechanism.  It is very important that we be able to input as much data as possible if we want the computed solutions to our problems to have better chances to be the right ones.  Being closed to the world is a pathology, as in psychopathic.

Our polices need not be led by what closes us down or restricts mobility as in fear, or anger or revenge. 

In this day of celebration of our independence may we be free from what keeps us  from the pursuit of happiness for all, which is our inner individual
right as well as Life's duty.
